Apple has sent out invitations for its upcoming September event where the tech giant is expected to unveil the new iPhone 15 lineup as well as newest Apple Watch models. As per the invitation graphic which depicts gray, blue and black colors, the event titled “Far Out” will take place on September 12, 2022 at the Steve Jobs Theater on Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California.

The new iPhones which are rumored to include iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will likely be available for pre-order from September 9 and hit stores on September 16. The Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE 2 and potentially a new rugged Apple Watch model are also expected to debut at the upcoming event.

Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has stated that the iPhone 15 Pro models will feature a faster A17 chip while the standard iPhone 15 models will retain the A16 from this year’s iPhone 14 line.

According to sources, the A17 will be fabricated on a 3-nanometer node which should allow for better power efficiency and performance gains compared to the 4/5nm A16 SoC.

Major design changes are not expected, however the Pro models may feature a new titanium alloy frame making them lighter in weight. The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are also rumored to get a 48MP main camera with 8K video recording support.

The lightning port on standard models could be replaced with a USB-C port to fall in line with recent EU regulations, while Pro variants may retain the port for at least one more year. Dynamic Island is expected to further expand its capabilities as well across the lineup.

Alongside new flagship iPhones, recent reports also indicate that Apple will unveil the Apple Watch Series 8 with updated health features and processor at the September event. There may be a new Apple Watch SE 2 budget model as well as a more durable Apple Watch variant targeted at extreme sports athletes.

The Series 8 watches are expected to pack the S8 chip and may boast of improved temperature sensing abilities. An updated design is unlikely. The rugged smartwatch could feature a bigger and stronger display as well as extra impact resistance for tough environments like hiking or mountain biking.

Apple’s September event will give tech enthusiasts their first real glimpse of the highly anticipated iPhone 15 models and newest Apple Watches. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the big reveal event next month!
