Xi Jinping and Joe Biden celebrated 45 years of diplomatic ties between China and the US, sharing messages signaling a moment of reflection and future collaboration between the influential nations.

Beyond bilateral exchanges, Xi engaged in New Year’s messages with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, designating 2024 as a friendship year, signaling intensified cooperation and strategic trust-building.

Additionally, Xi exchanged greetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin, highlighting the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Russia and emphasizing sustained friendly relations and strategic coordination.

However, amidst these diplomatic gestures, Xi struck a more resolute tone regarding Taiwan, stating that reunification with the island is inevitable a statement with implications given the upcoming Taiwan elections.

The historical backdrop of the unresolved civil war between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of China (Taiwan) underscores the enduring complexities of this region.

Xi’s remarks encapsulate China’s continued commitment to reunification while navigating complex international relationships, hinting at potential challenges and opportunities in the geopolitical landscape for the year ahead.
