Zephyrhills offers the perfect blend of semi-rural living with a modern outlook and amenities. Popularly known as the Friendly City and the City of Pure Water, Zephyrhills in the southeast corner of Pasco County in west-central Florida is northeast of Tampa. It is just a short drive away (roughly 25 miles each way) from the Gulf of Mexico and downtown Orlando. Initially named Abbott after a doctor and later Abbott Station when the railroad arrived, it became Zephyrhills in 1910 and incorporated as a town in 1914.

The rolling hills of Zephyrhills are bathed in the cooling breezes off the Gulf of Mexico and it is near enough major cities yet away from the pace of big city life. Its economy is mostly agricultural with pastoral cattle ranches, colorful citrus groves, and productive poultry farms. Over the years citrus trees have given way to private homes and mobile home communities, as people were attracted by the warm weather and verdant scenery. The largest city in Pasco County, Zephyrhills is as proud of its responsible government, concerted civic planning, friendly and safe atmosphere as it is of its warm climate and ready access to restaurants, shopping opportunities, and recreational activities.

Excitement is a short drive away at Disney World, Busch Gardens, and major league ball games, professional Broadway traveling shows, or symphony concerts. The beaches of the Gulf of Mexico are an hour to the west. Zephyrhills Bottled Water, comprising of pure spring water drawn from seven wells is bottled here and sold around the world.

Life is not without its excitement though as there are numerous community events and festivals throughout the year and the Zephyrhills boasts of excellent year-round skydiving facilities. Zephyrhills has numerous sports bars, brewpubs, bowling alleys, and pool tables for the locals to relax after work and on weekends. There is a range of cuisine on offer, including fresh Gulf seafood and oysters, steak houses, and Southern barbecue cafes and international eateries, from Spanish to Chinese. Fast food establishments, bakeries, sub and pizza shops, and ice cream parlors are popular as well
A number of special events throughout the year, including Christmas-lighting ceremonies and holiday festivals, Halloween on Main Street, Tasting Away in Zepheritaville, Celtic Festival, Senior Citizen’s Day festivities, and the annual Auto and Antiques Winterfest provide music, entertainment, and a sense of community bonding. The Founders Day Parade is an impressive example of community pride in action. The Depot Museum is the focal point for art exhibits and historical programming. The Zephyrhills Public Library founded in 1912 has a wide selection of print materials, videos, books on tape.
