The City of Melbourne is located on east central Florida’s Space Coast. The City is in the southern portion of Brevard County and is just about an hour’s drive south of the Kennedy Space Center and 1-1/2 hours east of Disney World. Make Melbourne your vacation base when you want to visit either of them and you will never regret it as the city of Melbourne has so much to offer.
About The Community
The city of Melbourne is spread over two locations; it is largely on the Florida mainland, but a small portion is located on a barrier island with the Indian River Lagoon separating the mainland from the island. The island is just a narrow strip of land that serves to separate the Lagoon from the Atlantic Ocean. It is believed that in the past, the Lagoon was connected to the Ocean but today, the only connection is by way of a handful of inlets. A manmade inlet, the Sebastian Inlet at the southern end of Brevard County is one of them. The barrier island is connected to the mainland by two four-lane, high-rise bridges – the Melbourne Causeway and the Eau Gallie Causeway, that span the Indian River Lagoon.
FIGHT BIG TECH: CONTRIBUTE $$$ TO "HELP HOLD BIG-TECH ACCOUNTABLE"
Big Tech is using a content filtering system for online censorship. Take a few moments and watch our short video about NewsGuard to learn how they control the narrative for the Lamestream Media and help keep you in the dark. NewsGuard works with Big-Tech to make it harder for you to find certain content they feel is 'missing context' or stories their editors deem "not in your best interest" - regardless of whether they are true and/or factually accurate. They also work with payment processors and ad-networks to cut off revenue streams to publications they rate poorly by their same bias standards. This should be criminal in America. In 1969, the two separate communities of Melbourne and Eau Gallie merged and formed what we call the City of Melbourne today. The City encompasses approximately 38 square miles and almost 75% of the area is in use. The population was 81,468 in 2019 and it continues to grow at a modest rate each year. The Municipal government is doing an excellent job of providing essential services to the residents of Melbourne. Not only that, this municipality is responsible for providing drinking water services to residents of several other neighboring municipalities.
