Coral Springs is a city where every resident is a VIP. Politicians and city officials keep in close touch with the citizens to ensure that all needs are met satisfactorily. It is run almost like a corporate house, perhaps because it was founded in 1963 by a subsidiary of industrial giant Westinghouse. Located in Broward County of southeast Florida, near Fort Lauderdale, it is a largely residential city that has grown rapidly along with its reputation of an excellent planned city. The population of Coral Springs today is around 133 thousand.
Coral Springs was once known as the “city in the country,” but cow pastures are now a thing of the past. Coral Springs works hard to maintain its reputation as the place with the best of everything. The city was awarded the Governor’s Sterling Award for Quality in 1997 for its devotion to Total Quality Management. This is the state’s highest award for organizational excellence. Residents who wish to improve their neighborhood or resolve a concern are invited to attend Slice of the Springs meetings held twice a year. It is their chance to interact with city’s officials and address issues.
During the last decade, the Coral Springs population has become more diverse with a mix of white, Hispanic, African American and Asian population. Parks, shops, malls and other amenities make family living comfortable. Traffic flows fairly easily, even though Coral Springs is one of the county’s most populous cities. There are several conveniently located hotels with varying amenities featuring restaurants and shopping.
