Trump’s gun license expected to be revoked after conviction in hush money trial

Donald Trump’s gun license in New York City is set to be taken away now that he has been found guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. The New York Police Department spokesperson mentioned that Trump’s license was suspended when he was indicted.

The Trump campaign did not respond immediately to CNN’s report on the expected revocation. In New York, it’s common for gun licenses to be revoked after convictions.

It’s not clear when Trump last possessed a gun, but his NYC gun license was active during his indictment in March 2023. Since becoming the Republican nominee in 2015, he has been under Secret Service protection.

Trump’s conviction on all 34 counts of falsifying business records is a significant event, marking the first time a former U.S. president has been convicted. His sentencing is scheduled for July 11, just before the Republican National Convention where he is expected to be named the party’s nominee.

During the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting last month, Trump was endorsed by the group after delivering a keynote speech where he encouraged gun owners to vote.

The Biden campaign criticized Trump regarding the potential revocation of his gun license, pointing out his past statements to the NRA. They highlighted his civil trial loss for sexual abuse but noted he hasn’t faced domestic abuse charges.
