The golf community was deeply saddened by the loss of Grayson Murray, a promising PGA Tour talent who passed away at the age of 30, delivering a significant blow to the sport.

On Sunday, May 26, Grayson’s parents, Eric and Terry Murray, shared the cause of their son’s passing in a heartfelt statement posted on social media. The PGA Tour released the statement, expressing that despite Grayson’s struggles, he is now at peace.

In the past day, the family has been grappling with the reality of their son’s departure, describing it as a nightmarish experience. They emphasized that Grayson was cherished by his extended family, friends, fellow players, and many who are reading their message.

Grayson, a PGA Tour victor on two occasions, faced battles with alcoholism and depression. Despite participating in the Charles Schwab Challenge and withdrawing after 16 holes, he struggled with personal challenges.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan extended condolences to Grayson’s loved ones, offering support during this difficult time. Grayson’s parents, in a conversation with Monahan, expressed their wish for the tournament to continue, believing it was what Grayson would have wanted.
