Clippers’ Championship Equation: Harden’s Departure, Kawhi’s Return, and Batum’s Sacrifice

A prime example of this occurred this season when seasoned wing player Nic Batum left the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for James Harden.

Fans and commentators alike are often stunned by the many upheavals, trades, and acquisitions that occur during the NBA season.

After four seasons with the Clippers, Batum was lost in the blockbuster deal due to the requirement to match contracts. The Clippers had a respectable 44-25 record and were comfortably positioned in fourth place in the Western Conference at the time of the deal.

The team felt a new lease of life upon Harden’s arrival, and his outstanding performances won him recognition as a scorer and facilitator alike. But Batum believes that Kawhi Leonard’s return to full health has been the real game-changer for Ty Lue’s team. It is impossible to exaggerate Leonard’s influence.

Despite missing a handful of games, he has managed to participate in 63 matchups this season, showcasing his two-way prowess by averaging 23.8 points, six rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.

Clippers’ Playoffs Championship

A prime example of this occurred this season when seasoned wing player Nic Batum left the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for James Harden.

Leonard has cemented his place among the league’s top wing defenders with a remarkable 52.7% field goal percentage and 42.4% three-point shooting percentage.

With Leonard back in the starting lineup and Paul George continuing to produce huge plays, the Clippers are well-positioned to contend for the NBA championship.

While Batum’s departure undoubtedly diminished the team’s depth, Harden’s arrival more than makes up for it. The Clippers would undoubtedly do the same maneuver in the future.

As the regular season draws to a close and the postseason draws near, the only thing on their minds is giving it their all.

Regardless of Harden’s star power, Leonard’s defensive prowess, or George’s all-around contributions, what matters most is that the team’s collective efforts lead to postseason success. For the Clippers and their devoted fan base, the road to championship glory has officially begun.
