Jamie Pickett Quietly Exits UFC, Pledging Focus on Family After Retirement Bout at UFC Vegas 87

After nine fights in the UFC, Jamie Pickett has decided to retire from the sport. During the featured preliminary fight at Saturday’s UFC Vegas 87 event at the UFC APEX, Pickett competed against Eryk Anders and lost by unanimous decision. 

While on a break, UFC play-by-play announcer Jon Anik shared that Pickett would be making his way to the octagon for the last time as he was about to retire.

Pickett declared his wish to put an end to his mixed martial arts (MMA) career during the media scrum that took place after the regarding. He said that he was a father to two children and a child who was six years old, and that he wanted to set a positive example for them to follow in their life. 

He conveyed his thanks to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) for allowing him to fight out the remainder of his contract, and he stated that even if they gave him further contracts, the response would remain the same.

After obtaining a contract on his third attempt on the promotion’s Contender Series, Pickett finished his career with a professional record of 13-11. He also had a record of 2-7 in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). His first fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was losing to Tafon Nchukwi, and then he was defeated by Jordan Wright at UFC 262. 

Pickett’s career was on the decline, but he was able to revive it by winning two straight fights against Laureano Staropoli and Joseph Holmes on successive instances. On the other hand, the purple patch did not last long when he was defeated by Kyle Daukaus. 

Denis Tiuliulin, Bo Nickal, an extensively anticipated skills, and Josh Fremd were the four opponents that Pickett encountered, which eventually led to his decision. It has not been determined if Jamie was nearing the end of his contract with the UFC or not. 

Pickett is deserving of praise for entering the Octagon, despite the fact that his performances and career have been less than stellar. Fans have expressed their respect for his choice to withdraw from mixed martial arts (MMA) as well as his 13-11 record.
