Coral Springs Man Involved In Four-Vehicle Crash Shoots Victim, Flees Pompano Beach Scene In Victim’s Vehicle

During the on-scene investigation, deputies learned the shooter, Dale Daniel Spidle, 35, of Coral Springs, exited a silver 2019 Kia Optima after the crash, shot a adult male, and then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. 

POMPANO BEACH, FL – A man was shot dead following a multi-vehicle crash in Pompano Beach, and detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to investigators, shortly after 2 p.m. Friday, May 20, Broward Regional Communications received a call about a crash and shooting near the intersection of Powerline Road and West Sample Road in Pompano. Broward Sheriff’s deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded. On scene, emergency crews located a crash involving four vehicles and a driver suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported the shooting victim and two other victims injured in the crash to an area hospital for treatment. The shooting victim was later pronounced deceased.

During the on-scene investigation, deputies learned the shooter, Dale Daniel Spidle, 35, of Coral Springs, exited a silver 2019 Kia Optima after the crash, shot the victim, an adult male, and then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. 

A preliminary investigation revealed the Kia matched the description of a Be On the Look Out (BOLO) vehicle alert issued by Coral Springs Police Department (CSPD). The Broward Sheriff’s Office then contacted CSPD and notified them of the incident in Pompano Beach. A short time later, the Broward Sheriff’s Office was advised by Coconut Creek Police Department (CCPD) that Spidle was apprehended in their city.

Broward Sheriff’s crime scene, homicide and traffic homicide detectives are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the Pompano Beach incident. Investigators with Broward Sheriff’s Homicide Unit are investigating the fatal shooting, while detectives with Broward Sheriff’s Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating the multi-vehicle crash. 

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is also working in collaboration with CSPD and CCPD.

Friday evening, Spidle was transported to Broward Sheriff’s Main Jail and booked on one count of premeditated murder in the Broward County case involving the fatal shooting, and booked on several additional charges from CCPD.
